StackLiberate

Moving to StackLiberate

Keep your domain email working

Keep email hosting and website hosting separate when changing where your website is served.

Your domain, website hosting and email service are separate responsibilities. Building a new website in StackLiberate does not copy an old website, move a mailbox or cancel another provider.

Identify your providers first

Check who manages the domain registration, authoritative DNS, website hosting and email billing. They may be different companies even when you originally bought them together. Confirm the active email provider and subscription in its account rather than inferring cancellation safety from an MX hostname.

Keep website and email DNS separate

Website hosting commonly uses A, AAAA or CNAME records. Mail routing uses MX records, with other records supporting verification and authentication. Use the exact records required by your chosen providers; do not copy example IP addresses from an old guide.

If you change authoritative nameservers, preserve the complete required DNS configuration at the new DNS provider before switching. Changing only the website address and replacing a DNS zone are not the same operation.

Before cancelling an old service

  1. Record the current DNS configuration and confirm who owns each subscription.
  2. Ask the email provider whether the current billing arrangement depends on the website plan you intend to cancel.
  3. If a mailbox move is required, follow that provider’s current migration instructions and retain the old mailbox until the move is verified.
  4. Test sending and receiving with an independent address, then verify again after any DNS changes have settled.
  5. Cancel only the service you no longer need after confirming the remaining website, DNS and email services will stay active.

What StackLiberate does not do

StackLiberate does not provide mailbox migration, registrar access or a paid migration-support package through this guide. Do not send support your registrar password, mailbox credentials or recovery tokens.

In-app publishing and domain setup are currently paused. This guide does not enable them or describe an available Publish interface. For account and rollout boundaries, see Sites, accounts & licenses.
