Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect and process information in the following categories, as relevant to how you use the Service:

Account and authentication information. Your email address, account identifiers, basic profile information, authentication-provider details, account preferences, and information needed to verify access or recover an account. Password authentication is handled through our authentication provider, and payment-card information is handled by our checkout provider rather than stored as full card numbers in StackLiberate’s application database.

Sites and content. Your selected templates, site names, text, images, logos, media uploads, links, website settings, SEO information, editor operations, saved versions, publication details, and other content you choose to create, store, or publish through the Service.

Purchases and entitlements. Order references, product and entitlement information, transaction status, license activation, applicable pricing or tax information returned by our checkout provider, payment adjustments, refunds, and related accounting or fraud-prevention records. Payment-card information is collected and processed by our Merchant of Record or payment providers, not through StackLiberate’s website editor.

Collaboration and transfers. Email addresses of people you invite to collaborate on or receive a site, related invitation and acceptance records, site ownership and permissions, and information needed to manage those relationships.

Publishing and hosting. Sites and files submitted for publishing, deployment identifiers, hosting-provider connection details, domain names, publication history, and technical information needed to connect or manage hosting. When you authorize an external hosting connection, we handle the relevant authorization credentials for the purposes you approve.

Service usage and diagnostics. Browser and device information, IP address, timestamps, request metadata, approximate technical location derived from network information where available, access and security events, error diagnostics, and performance or usage analytics associated with your interactions with the Service.

Support communications. Information you send to our support email, including the content of requests and correspondence needed to respond or resolve issues.

We do not require you to submit sensitive personal information merely to build a standard website. Please avoid uploading medical records, payment-card data, government identification numbers, or other highly sensitive information unless an expressly supported and lawful use requires it.

2. How we use information

We use personal information for legitimate operating purposes, including to:

• Create, authenticate, secure, and administer accounts.
• Provide the editor, website saving, restoration, site licensing, exports, and publishing functions you request.
• Process purchases and license activation; reconcile payments, refunds, and disputes.
• Manage collaborations, ownership transfers, permissions, hosting connections, and domains.
• Send account confirmations, security messages, invitation notices, transaction-related communications, and service notices.
• Respond to support requests and exercise or fulfill contractual rights and obligations.
• Maintain service performance, investigate errors, prevent abuse and fraud, and protect systems and users.
• Comply with legal requirements and preserve records where reasonably necessary for disputes, accounting, security, and enforcement.

We may combine or aggregate operational information in ways that do not identify a particular person, for purposes such as understanding service reliability and usage patterns.

3. Cookies, analytics, and browser storage

When the affiliate program’s tracking is enabled, we ask permission on an eligible referred public visit before loading Lemon Squeezy’s affiliate script. It uses a referral cookie and browser/device identifiers, including a technical browser fingerprint, to credit the referring partner. You may decline and still use StackLiberate or buy at the same price.

A consented referral is valid for no longer than 30 days and any shorter native expiration. We retain only the preference, store/environment, reference, expiry and a temporary checkout association in this browser; reading it or signing in does not renew the window. The tracking script is not loaded in the editor, account pages or customer websites. Tracking may not work across devices, with blockers or after browser data is cleared.

Withdrawing permission stops new captures and removes referral cookies and tracking data under our control without clearing your login, drafts or purchase recovery references. It does not erase Lemon Squeezy’s historical records or reverse a previously attributed commission.

StackLiberate uses cookies and other browser storage as part of its normal operation. These include authentication and security cookies, short-lived verification or workflow data, and browser-local storage supporting editing, pending actions, and media handling. Some editor drafts and files may be stored in IndexedDB or browser storage on your device, including between sessions; signing out does not necessarily remove every local draft stored in that browser profile.

We use service-performance and usage analytics to understand how our website and Service are used. Hosting and analytics providers may process device, page, referral, or request information as described by their own policies. Third-party integrations such as authentication or payment checkout may set or read cookies on their own domains.

Some browsers send Do Not Track signals. StackLiberate does not treat a browser Do Not Track signal as a universal opt-out from all service processing. Certain third-party services and embedded resources may independently collect browsing or usage information across websites, subject to their own practices and available controls. You may contact us regarding rights or controls available under applicable law.

You can manage cookies and local data through your browser, but restricting essential storage can prevent login, draft recovery, or other Service functions. Clearing browser data may delete drafts not yet saved to your account.

4. When we share information

We share personal information only as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, carry out your instructions, administer transactions, protect our systems, or meet lawful requirements. Relevant categories of recipients include:

Infrastructure and data service providers, including providers supporting website hosting, APIs, authentication, databases, file storage, content delivery, and technical operations.

Payment and transaction providers, including Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record, which handles checkout payments, relevant taxes, payment disputes, and refunds under its applicable terms.

Email and authentication providers, including transactional email delivery services and identity providers such as Google or GitHub when you choose to use them.

Monitoring and analytics providers, to the extent used to operate, secure, diagnose, or measure the Service.

Other users or the public, at your direction. Site collaborators and intended Handoff recipients can access information made available through their permissions. Content you affirmatively publish becomes publicly accessible, and search engines or other third parties may access or cache it.

Legal or business recipients, where disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with lawful process, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud, or carry out a legitimate transfer or reorganization of the Service subject to applicable privacy obligations.

We do not grant infrastructure providers ownership of Your Content through this policy. Our agreements with service providers and their independent privacy practices govern the processing performed by those providers.

5. Data from purchases

When you purchase a license, checkout is completed through Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy collects the payment and billing information it needs to act as Merchant of Record; its privacy and payment terms apply to that part of the transaction.

StackLiberate receives and retains the limited transaction information needed to confirm the order, grant or suspend entitlements, display the relevant purchase record, prevent duplicated fulfillment, and handle refunds or disputes. We do not store complete payment-card numbers or card verification codes in our product database.

6. Security

We use safeguards appropriate to the nature of the Service, including account and permission controls, protected communications, restricted operational access, and measures designed to protect sensitive credentials and reduce unauthorized access. Access to site content is governed by site ownership and collaborator permissions.

No internet service, storage system, or transmission method is completely risk-free. We cannot guarantee absolute security. Please protect your account credentials, use a secure device, and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account or published sites.

7. Retention and deletion

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the Service, administer valid site licenses and hosting relationships, complete transactions, maintain operational security, resolve disputes, and meet applicable legal obligations. Different categories of information have different retention periods.

Site content and saved revisions generally remain associated with the site until they are removed through authorized site or account actions, subject to lawful retention and operational exceptions. Certain security, transaction, and financial records may be retained after account closure where necessary for fraud prevention, accounting, disputes, or compliance. Technical logs, provider records, and backup copies may have separate retention or rotation schedules.

You can request account deletion through the Service or by emailing us. Account deletion involves identity verification and a processing period disclosed in the deletion workflow. When the process is completed, we remove the account and associated sites and content still controlled by that account from our active systems, subject to lawful retention exceptions.

StackLiberate-managed hosting for sites that remain owned by a deleted account ends as part of completed deletion. A site already transferred to another StackLiberate owner is not deleted merely because the previous owner closes an account. Websites independently hosted by the customer or another provider, as well as downloaded exports and copies stored elsewhere, are not automatically deleted by StackLiberate.

Browser-local drafts may remain on a device until you clear them or your browser removes them. We cannot erase files you downloaded, content that has been publicly copied or indexed, or data controlled by a separate third-party service solely by deleting your StackLiberate account. Where backups or legally retained records exist, those may persist until their applicable retention periods or ordinary deletion cycles end.

We do not promise that every copy of all information in every system is erased immediately or on a single universal deadline.

8. Your choices and privacy rights

You may access or update information available through your account settings, manage eligible site files and downloads, change authorized collaboration permissions, and request account deletion. For requests to access, correct, or delete personal information not available through account controls, email hello@stackliberate.com.

We may need to verify your identity before providing records or changing sensitive information. Certain information may be withheld or retained when required or permitted by law, including to protect other users, preserve security, honor a valid ownership transfer, or comply with recordkeeping obligations.

Depending on applicable law and your circumstances, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of, or object to certain processing of personal information. We will address applicable rights requests in accordance with the law, including any legally required appeals process.

9. International use and processing

StackLiberate operates from the United States and uses service providers that may process information in the United States or other locations where they operate. If you access the Service from elsewhere, your personal information may be processed outside your country of residence, subject to applicable legal protections.

The privacy laws that apply to a particular request may depend on the nature of the information, our activities, and the location of the people involved. Nothing in this policy removes protections that applicable law makes mandatory.

10. Visitors to websites built with StackLiberate

There is an important distinction between using StackLiberate and visiting a website built with StackLiberate.

A website owner determines its content, business purpose, embedded services, forms, external links, and visitor-facing notices. The owner is responsible for ensuring that the site complies with laws applicable to the owner’s business and visitor interactions, including any required privacy or cookie disclosures and permissions.

When a website is published through hosting arranged by StackLiberate, the hosting provider may process visitor requests, network information, and service logs needed to deliver that site. If the site is moved to a customer-controlled host, that provider handles its own hosting-related data. Forms, maps, images, fonts, social services, and other embedded tools may send information to third parties selected by the site owner or included in the site’s configuration.

StackLiberate’s Privacy Policy is not automatically the privacy policy for a customer’s own website. Website owners should provide an appropriate notice for their visitors and verify the third-party integrations they use.

11. Children

The Service is intended for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly solicit accounts from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us in violation of this requirement, contact hello@stackliberate.com so we can review and take appropriate action.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the Service, relevant providers, or legal requirements. The current version and effective date appear on this page. We will give appropriate notice of material changes and obtain consent where required by law. Changes do not eliminate rights or obligations that applicable law preserves.
